University Graduates : Easing the Path to Job Markets

Statistics from the Ministry of Higher Education disclose that in the country, it is common to find a plethora of university graduates without jobs. These graduates do not only suffer from low offer for professional training, but lack interaction in the socio-professional world due to weak dynamic of entrepreneurship in universities. In a bid to ensure that students who graduate from higher

education are easily integrated into the socio-professional milieu, the Ministry of Higher Education created the Support Programmes for the Development of the Technological and Professional Field of Higher Education dubbed PRO-ACTP. The third session of the steering committee of the programme met yesterday in Yaounde under the chairmanship of the Minister of Higher Education, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, to review progress made in the execution of projects realised by the executing organ of the committee. The activities of PRO-ACTP are coined under three main components, namely: rehabilitation, construction and the reviewing of university training content so as to link academic skills with industrial skills. In rehabilitating and constructing more facilities within higher institutes of learning, there is hope that adequate training will be provided to university students.
