Menoua East CPDM To Vote Paul Biya in 2011

The party militants at the Penka Michel section conference requested Mr Biya to be the CPDM candidate in the 2011 presidential election. The militants of the Menoua East Section of the Cameroon People??s Democratic Movement (CPDM) have pledged total support to President Paul Biya, national chairman of the

CPDM and called on him to stand as the CPDM candidate in the 2011 presidential election. The request is contained in a motion of support made during a joint section conference at the Penka Michel CPDM party House, on August 1, 2009. Speaking at the conference, the CPDM Central Committee leader and Vice Prime Minister in charge of Agriculture and Rural Development, Jean Nkuete, called on militants to continue to support President Paul Biya who has a special interest in Penka Michel Subdivision in particular and the Menoua Division in general. He said militants of Menoua East were already witnesses of the prodigious strides taken by President Paul Biya to fight against corruption, and measures taken to improve upon the social, economic and political development throughout the nation. Mr Nkuete Jean called on Penka Michel militants to bury their hatchets, unite and work for the interest of the CPDM in the area, and prayed them to rally behind President Paul Biya. He further called on them to use concerted efforts to seek possible methods to dislodge those enemies of the CPDM in the section who are destabilising the party, and called on the subsection presidents to hold regular meetings to sensitize militants on the party??s basic texts. Earlier, the section president of Menoua East, Fouzang Jean Pierre reminded local party leaders of their responsibility to expand the life of the CPDM in the section. He gave a detailed account of the party??s achievements, since he took over office and congratulated those who have been contributing to the success of the party in the constituency. Mr. Fouzang cited the CPDM victory at the last legislative and council elections, and the holding of economic development talks to educate the youths as some of the major achievements. Hon. Fusi Jacob, member of parliament for the Menoua, told the militants it was high time they reconciled, stating that the division in Menoua East caused the drastic drop of the CPDM score in the 2007 legislative elections, even though the party won.. Meanwhile, militants listened to an exposé on decentralisation in Cameroon, its perspectives and development advantages, presented by Barrister Penka Michel, elite and militant of the CPDM. Other exposés were on topics such as; the impact of groups and associations on the fight against poverty, traditional rulers and democracy as well as a lecture on the basic texts of the CPDM.
