Below is a press release from the Minister of Communication.
“In the aftermath of military operations conducted by our Defence and Security Forces since November 26, 2015, against the withdrawal positions of Boko Haram terrorist group, in the Far North Region sharing border with Nigeria, a special operation was conducted from 2nd to 3rd December 2015, in one of the localities of these areas, which hitherto served as a logistics and transit base as well as infiltration corridor of Boko Haram suicide
bombers to Cameroon. This operation was conducted by the Special Alpha and Emergence IV Operations Forces of Cameroon, and those of the First Sector of the Multinational Joint Task Force, in complete synergy with the Nigerian Defence Forces. This operation led to the neutralization of many terrorists and the arrest of five of them who are currently being questioned in our specialised services.
Weapons and ammunition, including various propaganda objects and materials from looting perpetrated by the terrorist group were also seized.
The population of this locality, estimated at about 200, and made up of mainly women, children and old men, were constantly living under the stress of this criminal horde. They have all regained their freedom, security and serenity, following this joint operation of Cameroonian Forces and those of the First Sector of the Multinational Joint Task Force. No losses were reported on the side of the Allied Forces. The President of the Republic, His Excellency Paul Biya, hails this other act of bravery of the Cameroonian Armed Forces and the perfect spirit of cooperation that characterizes the action of the various military forces in the field of operations.
The Minister of Communication is on behalf of the Government, urging the populations to always remain vigilant and to continue to provide their support and collaboration to our Defence and Security Forces in the fight against the criminal gangs of the Boko Haram terrorist group”.
