The personnel held the fifth general assembly of their association in Yaounde last Saturday March 31.Controllers of weight and measures in the Ministry of Trade have pledged to leave nothing to chance in ensuring that consumers get the right quantity and quality of goods in the market. The President of the Association of Personnel of Prices, Weight and Measures, Estheguet Edgar Pamphyle Roger, made the commitment last Saturday March 31 in Yaounde during the association??s 5th ordinary general assembly

which also coincided with its 10th anniversary. The assembly was to evaluate the path the association has covered thus far and jointly seek ways of surmounting growing challenges so that the ministry??s mission of crusading against price hikes and making life worth living for the citizens would be effective. The general assembly brought together inspectors and controllers of price, weight and measures from across the country to share experiences on how they work as well as learn new orientations towards efficiency. ??We have to be examples of efficiency, making sure that the market is free of substandard goods,?? Mr Estheguet said. A view corroborated by the Bamenda Coordinator of the association, Tankoh Christina. ??Given that we work to protect consumers, we need to be together to support the State in this venture. We make sure that consumers are not cheated. The association keeps us awake and focused,?? she said.Sitting in for the Minister of Trade, the Technical Adviser No. 1, Fotso Felix, enjoined the personnel to be rigorous in the exercise of their duties. ??Leave nothing to chance so that together, the ministry can succeed in its roadmap. Be united, work with rigour and responsibility;?? Mr Fotso noted. A major outcome of the assembly was the opening up of the membership of the association to the rest of the personnel of the ministry and the separation between the association and 17 of its members going on retirement.
