Turkey Trade Forum : Countries Urged to Dismantle Trade Barriers

Businessmen and Industrialists (TUSKON), were opened in Istanbul, the country??s economic hob on June 02, following the meeting of ministers of Trade. The Forum opened with a fervent call for nations to dismantle trade barriers, promote economic cooperat?on and clear the path for the pr?vate sector to part?c?pate ?n econom?c bu?ld up. The Turk?sh Foreign Trade M?n?ster, Zafer ??aglayan, who presided at the Ministers of Trade meeting at the ???ragan Palace along the bounds of the Bosphorus strait, has been quite articulate about giving a lasting solution to the present global econom?c crisis. ??Our job is to try to develop some solution ?n the face of the global crises??, he told his colleagues ?n his open?ng statement. The Turk?sh official stated inter alia, that deepened cooperat?on among countries could be a good approach to solving the problem. ??The message is clear; the way to overcome crisis is not to close our doors??, he said, underscoring the need to dismantle all obstacles to the development of world trade. Today??s meeting opened floodgates to a series of meetings programmed ?n Istanbul from 01 to 07 June when the forum draws ?ts curtains. Some 37 Ministers ?n charge of Trade, representing 12 per cent of the world??s trade or 4 trillion dollars took part ?n the open?ng. The Cameroonian delegation of over 50 businesses is being headed by the country??s M?n?ster of Trade, Luc Magloire Mbarga Atangana. Members of the delegation drawn from a broad spectrum of the country??s businesses have been combing the nooks and crannies of Istanbul, making contacts with Turkish businesses. According to the Turk?sh M?n?ster, 24 per cent of the countries participating ?n the forum are expected to have positive growth ?n the years ahead. He based his argument on the report of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The Istanbul forum is witnessing the participation of 18 African countries and 502 European. Turkey??s participation ?n several international forums including the recent G-20 has led her to understand the need to bu?ld up economic cooperation, Zafer Gaglayan, stated. Besides the meetings and multiple contacts, the Turkey World Trade Bridge, is equally the mammoth exhibition of Turk?sh savoir fair at the Haliç Conference and Culture Centre, the same arena where the forum was officially launched. The exhibition stands cover areas such as: construction and related sectors, machinery, automobile industry, electronics, technology, hardware and equipment, service industry, hygiene, cosmetics, health care, food, textile and furniture.
