State Audit: Fight Against Corruption to be Intensified

The second phase of activities of the anti corruption unit in the Supreme State Audit was officially launched yesterday. It was an exceptional day at the Supreme State Audit in Yaounde yesterday. The event was the ceremony to officially hand over professional cards to newly appointed state inspectors, controllers and verificators of the Supreme State Audit and the

launching of the second phase of the activities of the unit in charge of the fight against corruption within the institution. The professional cards confer exorbitant powers to the holders and enable them to carry out their duties with serenity and solemnity. Speaking during the occasion, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Supreme State Audit, Siegfried David Etame Massoma, called on the State Controllers to make good use of the powers that have been given them. He said they should use the professional cards in the strict respect of the rules and regulations that govern the exercise of their functions as state verificatiors. The Minister reminded them of the powers given them by the Head of State, to notably carry out control of all public offices, entities in the public sector, projects financed abroad as well as private organisations in conformity with the texts of the Supreme State Audit among others. The minister also warned that sanctions await unscrupulous verificators who will fail to respect ethics. He said the recipients who swore before the Supreme Court should carry out their duties in respect of the law and ethics. The minister cited sighted objectivity, transparency, honesty, respect of the law and ethics as the fundamental principles in the functions of controllers. Apart from the professional cards, the Minister also handed the personnel of the institution some items to enable them become vectors of messages against corruption. Some of these gadgets include tee shirts, bags, note books, caps, banners, posters, among others. He called on the anti corruption unit to accelerate investigation process on files that have been submitted for examination. He called on all to work hand-in-glove in the fight against corruption.
