Bakassi (Ndian)- The installations of newly appointed Security Officers to Bakassi kick-off the Mundemba Administrative and Coordination Meeting. The personnel to manage the 12 Police Services created by Presidential Decree of 11th August (2009) for the Bakassi zone is now in place. The services include: two Public Security Police Stations in Ngosso and Akwa; four Intelligence
Services in Akwa, Isangele, Idabato and Barracks; six Frontier Police Posts in Jabane, Akwa, Barracks, Idabato, Bongo and Jangassa. The installation of the Police personnel for Bakassi was done in Mundemba, headquarters of Ndian Division, 31st August 2009, by the South West Regional Delegate of National Security, Senior Superintendent of Police Tocko André Théophile, in the presence of South West Regional Governor, Eyeya Zanga Louis. The Police personnel installation was prelude to a four-day meeting in Mundemba (30th August ?? 2nd September) assembling the Regional top brass of State, Civil, Police and Military Officers. The meeting offers an opportunity for the general appreciation of past activities and points to new orientations in the State machinery. Governor Eyeya Zanga Louis told the people of Ndian Division as a whole that it was important for the country to constantly examine its slate and take appropriate measures to maintain its stability, peace and security. The Mundemba meeting, however routine and rotating among the six Divisional capitals of the Region, comes after the Limbe (Fako) gathering of 18-19 November 2008. The Governor rejoiced that, after the Limbe coordination meeting, the Region has fared normal observing all national days and activities of development. On development the Governor noted the completion of the Mutengene-Muea-Kumba road, the commencement of Mamfe-Nomba-Bamenda road, the voting of close to CFA 11 billion for public investment in the Region for 2009. Field and office reports The first day of the Mundemba meeting (31st August) ushered in some 20 Regional Delegates who presented their field and office work to the appreciation of the personalities across the board. In the area of health, it was important to hear that 5.716 HIV/AIDS patients receive anti-retroviral drugs from hospitals in the Region among who 1.385 positively tested pregnant women. In the area of communication, it was reported that CRTV signals cover only 50% of the South West territory while 17 newspapers are distributed in the area. The Regional Delegate of Communication, Eno Chris Oben, reported the existence of 15 radio stations in the South West and; though unauthorized, some of them jam the CRTV (State Radio and TV) waves. Touching on Agriculture, Regional Delegate Forwang Nyakanga Lawrence explained that apart from encouraging young farmers?? groups in the Bakassi area, CFA 222.5 million has been invested in the area in the first part of 2009. Concerning forestry, officials deplored the excessive and illegal exploitation of forests in the South West with a recent loss of 100 precious species in the Takamanda forest costing CFA One billion.
