Officials recently appointed at Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) headquarters were commissioned into their functions yesterday. Senior officials and support staff recently appointed to positions of responsible at the headquarters of the elections organising and managing institution, Elections Cameroon (ELECAM),in Bastos, Yaounde, were commissioned into their functions yesterday, October 1. The officials appointed by the Director General of Elections at ELECAM, Mohaman Sani Tanimou on May 18, September 28 and 30 include heads of divisions, unit heads, assistant research officers, chiefs of service, and private
secretaries of the Vice Chairman of the ELECAM Electoral Board, the Director General of Elections and the assistant Director of Elections. The Assistant Director General of Elections, Essousse Erik who presided at the ceremony on behalf of the Director General of Elections , recalled the delicate and important mission of the institution which consists of ensuring the management of all electoral and referendums processes in the spirit of objectivity, impartiality, equity and transparency. The mission, he said, has to be implemented on a daily basis by the General Directorate of Elections. To carry out the mission with success, Essousse Erik called on the promoted officials to put into practice professional virtues such as punctuality, assiduity, effective presence at work and post, abnegation and sustained efforts. The professional values, he said must also be accompanied by discipline, team work, probity, right to reserve, respect of hierarchy, high sense of responsibility and professional ethics. The Director General of Elections, Mohaman Sani Tanimou who arrived at the ceremonial hall towards the end of the commissioning event, congratulated the promoted staff. He called on them to work with abnegation and loyalty, stating that promotions as well as sanctions are merited. He remained hopeful that the calibre of officials appointed into the various positions of responsibility will enable ELECAM to live up to the expectations the national and international communities have placed on the institution.Emmanuel KENDEMEH, CT
