Minister Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo??o on August 28 commissioned the promoted military officials into their functions. Senior officials appointed on August 25 to key positions in the central services of the Ministry of Defence must work to build a modern, efficient and operational army that is capable of
guaranteeing in a sustainable manner Cameroon??s independence, as well as ensuring the security of the citizens. The Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of Defence, Edgard Alain Mebe Ngo??o instructed the officials while commissioning them into their functions on August 28, stating that their ultimate mission was to translate into concrete reality reforms started in the Defence forces in 2001. In the presence of some top military officials, the Defence boss, commissioned into their functions; Colonel Mahamat Ahmed, Chief of the Military Secretariat, Mbangue Maxime, Technical Adviser, Lieutenant Colonel Bidja Henri Robert, Chief of Division for Military Security, Lieutenant Colonel Essome Mbenda Aaron, chief of bureau for Fuel in the Army and National Gendarmerie, and Colonel Mbongo??o Jean Jacques, the Director of Administration and Regulation. Mr Mebe Ngo??o reminded the promoted officials of their important and delicate mission and stressed that the obligation of results will be the only criterion hierarchy will use in appreciating their action. It is for this reason, he said, that they must pursue in a methodical manner and with effectiveness, the modernisation of the country??s defence forces by making army units and training institutions more operational. To the new Chief of the Military Secretariat, Colonel Mahamat Ahmed, the Defence minister said he expected him to show a sense of anticipation, permanent quest for efficiency, effectiveness and a spirit of collaboration in the discharge of his duties as a key official in the Minister??s cabinet. Colonel Mahamat Ahmed therefore has to show an example of reserve, abnegation, discretion, availability, moral and intellectual rectitude. The Chief of Division for Military Security on his part, must as a matter of urgency, re-orientate the activities of the Division toward the execution of the fundamental mission which consists in the protecting and raising the morale in the army and National Gendarmerie, protecting military secret and fighting against interference of all sorts. The Chief of Bureau for Fuel in the army and National Gendarmerie, Lieutenant Colonel Essome Mbenda Aaron, the minister specified, will have to put at the disposal of the Defence forces enough fuel and other logistics needed for their functioning and their operational capacity. His greatest challenge would be to identify and dismantle all fraudulent networks around the fuel. The Director of Administration and Regulation, must reduce to the barest minimum the time taken to treat files.
