Cameroon: International Research Laboratory Days Launched

The aim is to conduct joint research and train Masters and PhD students in Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics.
The amphi theatre 700 of the University of Yaounde 1 was the venue of the launch of the International Research Laboratory Days in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics (LIRIMA) days yesterday November 10. The launch comes two years after the signing of a partnership agreement in the University of Yaounde 1 to create the institution. LIRIMA involves 10 research teams from France, Northern Africa, Sub Saharan Africa and Madagascar. The objective is to conduct joint research projects and to train Masters and PhD students in

Computer Sciences and Applied Mathematics.
Speaking during the opening, the Rector of University of Yaounde 1, Oumarou Bouba said the laboratory is in line with the strategy of the university to develop research and innovation. Today, LIRIMA participates in the promotion a high level scientific production in Computer Science and Applied Mathematics, in relation to problems of economic development and training of new generation of researchers. §In the past two years, LIRIMA, together with its partners, has produced 70 publications, 20 PhD and HDR theses, over 100 Masters Dissertations, close to 90 research missions between partners, ten scientific prizes won, notably those by two Cameroonians in France and Austria, among others.
