As visitors continue to throng the 20th May Boulevard in downtown Yaounde to take part in the ongoing trade fair code-named, Yaounde en Fête (New Ya-Fe), there is much for the eye and mouth.Business people from far and near have transformed the New-Ya-Fe village into a vast market of varied products. Cosmetics, telecoms and jewellery products are aplenty likewise food, drinks and clothings for people of all categories. Peculiar about the numerous stands where these products are displayed is the dexterity with which sales boys and girls attract visitors and sweet-talk them into buying what is offered.
In one of the numerous stands bearing telecoms products from Cameroon Telecommunications, latest innovations are stealing the show. There are sales girls to journey one through the workings of internet keys like Fako and innovations like Smartphones with internt sharing possibilities, call credit sms and music show.
There are others like Canalsat with a wide-range of offers in channels with up to 149 channels, radio and other services, Data Services Sarl with diverse offers in computer laptops, digital cameras and USB keys and dealers in medicinal plants like the, “Centre de Phamacopie Benin-Tisane,” with different medicinal products said to be curing many ailments. Each of these is struggling to get their products through to as many people as possible.
With the approach of end-of-year festivities, Ya-Fe also offers dresses, shoes, handbags and other items that can make the feasts better for housewives and children. Visitors are also served pleasure spots like eateries and drinking avenues with possibilities of watching artists on life display. The exhibitors Cameroon Tribune met in the village yesterday December 16 sounded upbeat that although things are still timid, there is hope that they may gain effervescence with the approach of the feasts.
