International Womens Day: Minister Marie Thérésse Abena Ondoa launches 33rd edition

The Minister of Women’s Empowerment and the Family Marie Thérésse Abena Ondoa has called all, notably Women, to join forces and fight all forms of discrimination against women and girls.
She was speaking this Monday 19th February 2018 while launching the 33rd edition of the International Womens Day at the Yaounde City Hall.
During the ceremony, the Minister lauded the efforts made by stake holders to improve the economic and socio-political status of women.
Professor Mariè Thérésse Abena Ondoa encouraged men to stand as key actors for the promotion of Women’s activities through initiatives such as the “He for She”campaign.
The Minister also called on women to enrole massively in the voters registration procedure.
Some Women’s Association present brandished symbols of peace, multiculturalism and the notion of living together.
Also during the occasion, religious leaders from the Islamic, Catholic and Protestant Faiths prayed for the Almighty to restore peace in Cameroon.
Prices were awarded to nine best designers of the 2018 Women’s day fabric.
The best three each received a cash price of CFA 450,000, 300,000 and 200,000 including pieces of Women’s Day Fabric.
The ceremony was punctuated by some thrilling presenrations from artists including Cameroon’s renown Sally Nyolo.
At the end of the ceremony, the Minister visited exhibition stands where home made products like detergent, dresses jewellery etc. produced by women were put on display.
