Cameroon: Important source of economy, catches fire (Pictures)

The National Oil Refinery (SONARA) went up in flames on the night of Friday breaking Saturday June 1st 2019.

Part of the company is reported to have been consumed by flames which were later on pull out by elements of the fire fighting brigade.

It is to early to determine the cause of the fire outbreak and the exact damage incurred.
But the minister of Water and energy of the Republic of Cameroon, Gaston Eloundou Essomba who left for Limbe shortly after the incident is expected to take stock of the damage.

SONARA is situated in Limbe, South West region of Cameroon, and is a major source of the country’s economy.

It is located in a zone considered by Cameroon’s separatists are former Southern Cameroon’s territory.
