The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya, proceeded on March 31 to the appointment of the 30 senators who will sit during the 3rd legislature of the Senate.
This appointment is accompanied by few changes, with the renewal of several Senate figures and the appointment of a new member in the Littoral region.
The renewal of Marcel Niat Njifenji and Aboubakary Abdoulaye
Among the personalities renewed, we find the president of the Senate, Marcel Niat Njifenji, originally from the West region, and the first vice-president Aboubakary Abdoulaye, Lamido de Rey-Bouba and senator from the North region. These renewals testify to the president's confidence in these experienced political figures.
Few changes in the East and South regions
In the Eastern region, the three senators appointed in 2018 are reappointed for this new legislature, a sign of a desire for continuity in the political representation of this region. Similarly, in the South region, no change was observed, with the renewal of the three senators appointed in 2018.
A new face in the Littoral region
Following the death of Senator Salomon Madiba Songue on October 17, 2022, the Littoral region sees the arrival of a new member: Ernest Mouen Dibounje. This appointment fills the void left by the disappearance of Mr. Madiba Songue and ensures continuity in the representation of the Littoral region.
The challenges of the 3rd Senate legislature
With this appointment of 30 senators, the 3rd legislature of the Cameroonian Senate promises to be a sign of continuity, with the renewal of several influential political figures. However, the issues facing the country require that members of the Senate work together to address the challenges and find lasting solutions to the problems affecting Cameroon.
