Cameroon – Denial: Ministers Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o and Basile Atangana Kouna deny having actions at the CDE

The contents of their denial were read on the 13 p.m. news on the national CRTV station on Friday, April 15, 2016.
The Ministers Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o of Transport and Basile Atangana Kouna of Water and Energy deny having actions at the Camerounaise des Eaux (CDE). Indeed, the two members of the Government sent denials on Friday, April 15, 2016, which were read on the national radio.
According to Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna, for some time malicious individuals with as yet unresolved intentions have been feeding social networks and public opinion with false information according to which he, as well as other members of the Cameroonian Government, are shareholders of the Société fermière de l' drinking water in Cameroon, in this case Cameroonian Waters (CDE). In view of the seriousness of such a statement denied of any basis, and without understanding what could support such a campaign of denunciation, Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna wishes to make it clear to public opinion and to the Cameroonian, that in the current state no Cameroonian and still a member of the Government is closely or remotely associated with Cameroonian Waters».
Dr. Basile Atangana Kouna also specifies, in his capacity as Minister responsible for technical supervision of this company, that the shareholders of CDE are the following four Moroccan companies: The National Office for Drinking Water (ONEP), a public industrial company and commercial under Moroccan law, Delta Holding, public limited company under Moroccan law, MED, public limited company under Moroccan law, Ingemar, public limited company under Moroccan law.
Also, "the Minister of Water and Energy, at the same time as he invites them to immediately stop this campaign of disinformation of public opinion, asks honest Cameroonian citizens not to grant any credit to these peddlers false information”, we learn.
Edgar Alain Mebe Ngo'o as for him, opposes a categorical denial to this information devoid of any foundation, "and whose only objective is to undermine his honor and bring shame on his personality. To build public opinion on this defamatory accusation, it establishes the responsibilities of each other, it wishes that appropriate investigations be carried out by the competent services while reserving the right to bring to justice the authors of this imaginary information.».
This exit from the Ministers of Transport and Water and Energy comes at a time when the national media are reporting that the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, has instructed the non-renewal of the CDE concession contract. Paul Biya reportedly asked his Government to propose to him within one month a drinking water management mechanism by exploring all possibilities, including the use of a public entity.
