The Speaker of the National Assembly and Spanish Ambassador to Cameroon over the weekend discussed ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation. The National Assembly of Cameroon and the Parliament of the Kingdom of Spain are working to find points of common interest through which to strengthen cooperation, with deepening
democratic governance as one of the key areas. The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Cameroon, Arturo Spiegelberg de Ortueta who has been in the country for six months, has already had the first contact with the Cameroon-Spain parliamentary friendship group and intends to continue working within the framework of the group to identify more points of common interest in strengthening cooperation. House Speaker, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril Friday, June 19 had discussions with the Spanish Ambassador which focused on parliamentary cooperation. After the audience, the Spanish diplomat said, he announced to the House Speaker the recently approved new strategic framework of his country??s cooperation called ??Plan Africa??. He said Cameroon features prominently in Spain??s cooperation list. As such, he stated, the two countries will work together in diverse areas, not only in the domains of infrastructure and economy but also in the cultural domain. Arturo Spiegelberg de Ortueta said he has been happily surprised to see the deep-rooted nature of the Spanish Language in Cameroon. He also lauded the contribution of the Spanish religious officials working in the country.
