Cameroon: Security Officials Strategise For 2018 in the North West

Top security and administrative officials in the North West region have emerged with concrete strategies on how to ensure maximum security in the entire region for the 1st quarter of 2018. They have also remobilised to ensure peace and order in the region. The in camera meeting that took place in Nkambe from the 4-5 of January 2018 was equally an opportunity for the stakeholders to equally evaluate end-of-year activities of the region. Due to the Anglophone situation that has resulted to the death of some military officials as well as civilians, the defence forces were encouraged to be more prudent and tactical. It emerged that strict measures were taken to maintain the calm that now reigns in the region. Speaking to the press at the end of the meeting, the Governor of the North West Region Adolphe Lele Lafrique, disclosed that the region has been experiencing relative calm in most recent times. He stated that measures have been taken to ensure that peace and order continue to reign in the entire region. Being an election year, he assured all that strategies have been put in place to ensure that elections take place in a calm and serene atmosphere. It should be noted that Governor Lele Lafrique chaired the regional administrative meeting prior to the security meeting. During the meeting, the various Regional Delegates presented their reports in which the current social tensions in the two English speaking regions have affected every sphere of activities through out the region.
