A timber truck on Tuesday October 18 in the town of Abong-Mbang in the East Region that is located about 240 km from the Cameroonian capital, Yaounde, crashed into a tea house at night, killing seven people on the spot and seriously wounding three others, reports a local correspondent of Cameroon Radio Television, CRTV radio from the provincial town of Bertoua.
The wounded were rushed to a local hospital where their lives are not said to be in danger. It was not however clear what exactly led to the accident.
The Yaounde-Bertoua highway witnesses heavy timber lorry traffic everyday as wood from the East Region, the Central African Republic and the northern part of Congo (Brazzaville) is transported through Yaounde to Douala Seaport for export.
