 Le Minsanté et le Minas ont rendu visite mercredi dernier aux nouveaux nés à l’hôpital gynéco-obstétrique et pédiatrique de Yaoundé.
Elles sont nées le 10 octobre dernier à Kumbo dans la région du Nord-ouest. Leur particularité ne tient pas du fait qu’elles soient jumelles, mais elles sont liées par le thorax et l’abdomen. De ce fait, elles partagent le même nombril et le même cœur. Mercredi dernier, elles ont été transférées à l’hôpital gynéco-obstétrique et pédiatrique de Yaoundé, où elles ont été immédiatement prises en charge. Les examens ont démontré que leur cas nécessite une évacuation sanitaire. Les bébés ainsi que leurs parents, Evaristus Samba 29 ans et Glory Njweng 23 ans, ont reçu la visite des ministres André Mama Fouda et Cathérine Bakang Mbock, venus s’enquérir de la situation.

 Le problème s'est posé durant le mois de septembre 2011, l'insuline a disparu des pharmacies privées tout comme de celles des hôpitaux. Des malades et des familles de malades, désemparés, ont arpenté les pharmacies de la ville à la recherche du précieux produit, indispensable pour diminuer le taux de sucre dans le sang des personnes malades. Aujourd'hui, dans certaines pharmacies de Yaoundé, le médicament est de nouveau disponible.
A la pharmacie Camerounaise, le stock a été renouvelé et même renforcé par un stock de sécurité, nous confirme une vendeuse. Même chose du côté de la pharmacie Française. Située à l'Avenue Kennedy, elle a également renforcé son stock en insuline. C'est à la Centrale nationale d'approvisionnement des médicaments essentiels

 The meeting that held yesterday in Yaounde was part of preparations for the stamping of quality assurance stickers on all tobacco products. Tobacco importers have been told to furnish the Directorate of Taxes in the Ministry of Finance, MINFI, with all information regarding their activities. This information includes the names of their manufacturers or suppliers, the quantity of their current and planned stocks and their distribution circuits in the country. Moreso, they are have been urged to give samples of their tobacco products to the National Agency for Norms and Quality, ANOR, and the Ministry of Public Health in order to be granted certification.

 The nine babies were abandoned within a period of two months across the country. The Minister of Social Affairs, Catherine Bakang Mbock, has appealed to parents to offer more humane treatment to their children by investing in them, stating that doing so is also a way of investing in their future. In a release made public in Yaounde, the Minister notes that cases of abandoned babies are on the increase in the country with tens of them dumped each year.

The day will be commemorated on October 13, with emphasis on trachoma, a contagious bacterial infection which affects the eye. Activities to commemorate the 12th World Sight Day in Cameroon began on monday, October 10, throughout the ten regions in the country with sensitisation campaigns on preventable infectious blindness. The day, which is out to raise awareness on blindness, visual impairment and rehabilitation of the visually impaired, will be observed on Thursday, October 13. The National Programme for Prevention of Blindness (NPPB) in the Ministry of Public Health is organising events under the theme "Preventable infectious blindness... Trachoma."
