Board of Imams and Moslem dignitaries organised the prayer session at the Bamenda Central Mosque.

Special prayers for peace, before, during and after the October 9 presidential election, vigilance in the face of religious fanatism threatening neighbouring countries and mobilisation against all forms of manipulations that could destabilise the nation were central on September 30, 2011 when Moslems Imams and dignitaries assembled at the Bamenda Central Mosque. To thank for the initiative was the Cameroon Board of Imams and Moslem Dignitaries (CIDIMUC).

It was all about special prayers for peace and hitch-free election in Cameroon. In the name of Allah, they acknowledged the values of peace and sought to preserve it.

Imams from all the Divisions of the North West Region took turns with intensified prayers for priceless peace, love and unity. It was also about prayer requests for Allah to protect Cameroon from embarrassments and enemies of the land. Allah was prayed to handle the killer HIV/AIDS, cholera, malaria, accidents and other diseases that threaten the nation. At one point knowledgeable Moslems took turns in reading passages of the Holy Koran with Imam Shaibu Baba Mallam of the Bamenda Central Mosque leading.

Dr Moussa Oumarou, National Coordinator of CIDIMUC also took time off during the prayers to mobilise Moslems to respect their civic rights by voting peacefully on October 9, 2011. Created in 2008, CIDIMUC works for peace, the development of Cameroon and improving the wellbeing of Imams. They are credited with the organisation of recent conferences on the culture of consolidating and sustaining peace in Cameroon.
