The South African national football team, Bafana Bafana has suffered a heavy defeat from Uruguay. The 3 – 0 score is what fans least expected from the host team that appeared promising at the beginning of the competition. The defeat, according to bookmakers, has compromised South Africa's chances to the next round of the game given that they are due to face France, an even stronger opponent during the last group game. The enthusiasm of the African side during the South Africa – Uruguay encounter was immediately watered down when the Bafana Bafana goal keeper received a red card. The downhearted players could not withstand the pressure from their opponents; this explains the severe thrashing 3-0 at the blow of the final whistle. The defeat is so far the heaviest any African team has received since the start of the competition. {module Publicité 300_250}The South African debacle is a strong signal to the five other African teams that begin the second round of group games; it is a pointer to fierceness of the remaining opponents. The Pressure is presently on Coaches who are expected to adapt their play style and outline winning tactics. Players on their part must give their best in terms of performance and score more gaols ensuring that they concede none. As the Super Eagles of Nigeria take on their next opponent, the continent hopes the team shall do better and spare the fans from further embarrassment. The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon, one of African sides that crumbled at the very beginning must learn the lessons from the South African mishap. Elvis Teke |
